Configurable per booking: applies only from 6 guests, or Fridays and Saturdays, for example. Everyone else books without a card.

Define the rule

Set when protection applies — party size, day of week, time window. Every other booking continues without a card.

Guest adds a card

On confirming, a Stripe element appears. The guest enters their card details — with 3-D Secure, no prepayment notice, no money moving.

Shows up? Card released

After service the card is released automatically. On a no-show you decide manually: charge, or release with goodwill.

Is the guest's card charged automatically?

No — never automatically. The card is only authorised via Stripe SetupIntent. If a guest does not show, you decide manually with one click in the booking drawer whether to collect the fee you communicated beforehand. You always keep full control.

Is it secure and legally sound?

Yes. The authorisation runs through Stripe and is PSD2-compliant including 3-D Secure. Tablario stores no card data — Stripe handles that as a certified payment provider. The guest is told transparently what is held before confirming.

What happens if the guest cancels in time?

If the guest cancels up to 24 hours before the reservation, the card authorisation is released automatically — nothing happens. You set the window yourself, per restaurant.
